RECAP: One's Enough Conquers the National Three Peaks! 🏔️🧶

Conquering the Summits: One's Enough Reflects on the National Three Peaks with BBC Radio Wales

What an unforgettable journey it has been!

Just a couple of months ago, we were standing in the BBC Wales studios showing off a sea of woolly creations. Fast forward to today, and those very same crafts have stood at the highest points in Scotland, England, and Wales.

We are absolutely thrilled to share that the One's Enough team—alongside a very special cargo of 281 handmade kidneys—has officially completed the grueling National Three Peaks Challenge! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

To wrap up this monumental effort, Carolyn caught up with John-Paul Davies on the BBC Radio Wales Drive Time show to share the highs, the lows, and the incredible moments that made every single painful step worth it. 🎙️⛰️

From Bags of Wool to Mountain Peaks

Last year, our team carried 180 litres of "blood" across the Welsh Three Peaks. This year, we wanted to focus on the human element of the kidney transplant list in Wales.

Every single one of the 281 kidneys lovingly crafted by the Yarnmongers represented a real person currently waiting for a kidney transplant in Wales.

Our mission wasn't just to carry them to the tops of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa)—it was to give them away.

Spreading Hope at 3,000 Feet

In her chat with John-Paul, Carolyn shared the beautiful (and sometimes emotional!) reactions of fellow hikers on the trails when they were gifted a knitted kidney.

These quirky, handmade creations did exactly what they were meant to do: they broke the ice. They sparked deep, vital conversations about living kidney donation and organ donor wishes right there on the mountainside. They proved, above all else, that when it comes to saving a life, One's Enough.

An achievement like this doesn't happen in a vacuum. We want to say a massive, heartfelt thank you to:

  • The Yarnmongers: Your incredible dedication and hours of knitting gave our challenge its heart.

  • Our Friends & Family: Who walked, supported, and cheered us through the blisters and the sleepless nights.

  • BBC Radio Wales & John-Paul Davies: For giving us the platform to keep this vital conversation going.

  • ITV Wales & Richard Morgan: Thankyou for interviewing us and the Yarnmongers of Pontylclun.

The trek may be over, but the mission continues. Please take a look at some of the links on our website to see how you can help us spread awareness, or join our community on social media to see photos from the summits!
