If you have been following our journey here at One’s Enough, you already know how much we love our handcrafted mascot: the Woolly.
These charming, bean-shaped kidney plushies—complete with their signature googly eyes and friendly stitched smiles—have travelled from the TV studios of BBC Wales Today all the way to the highest mountain peaks in the UK. But behind every single loop of yarn is a powerful story, and we want to invite you to become a part of it.

The Story Behind the Woollys
The original fleet of Woollys was brought to life by the incredibly talented Yarnmongers of Pontyclun.
Known locally for their close-knit community spirit and epic charity crafting marathons, these brilliant ladies took on an immense challenge for us. They hand-knitted and felted a staggering 281 unique kidneys to represent the 281 people in Wales currently waiting on the transplant list.
As featured on ITV Wales News, those very kidneys were packed up and carried to the summits of Snowdon, Scafell Pike, and Ben Nevis during our National Three Peaks Challenge. We gave them away to fellow climbers along the way, sparking vital, life-saving conversations about living donation.
It was this beautiful wave of creativity, kindness, and purpose that inspired us to launch Knit a Woolly for everyone!
